Copying a Master drawing: Vincent Van Gogh, Man reading the Bible, 1882



The appreciation of drawing skills by copying Master's drawings using previous techniques such as using negative spaces to achieve accurate proportions.

Another exercise to build on the ability to see and draw edges that will:

1. Build on the concept of edges as shared edges.
2. Emphasise negative space to strengthen and improve the unity of compositions.
3. Allow the 'visual' side of the brain to draw what is there.

Setting a ground in foreshortened view



Since finishing a BA degree, I had decided to improve my art drawing techniques. My wife Claire recommended Betty Edward's 'Drawing on the right side of the brain'.

This tutorial exercise focused on setting a ground in a foreshortened view.
